Art is the subjective and emotional view of the observer, filtered through our experiences and associations. As an artist I work to share my experiences and associations. For me, art is less about the subject and more about the emotions the piece evokes. What inspires me is the authentic beauty of the unadorned figure.
The unadorned form, is an example of not only simplicity and grace, but also power and eroticism. The male and female forms give us a direct connection to history, religion and cultures that span the world. Each century offers artists a new perspective on the human figure and the definition of beauty.
I cull inspiration from those artists that have come before me. They have inspired me to look at the human form as unexplored landscapes.
I view the elements of human physiology as a sophisticated mechanical and yet biological element. Understanding the interconnected relationship between muscles, bone, tendons and movement has also helped develop my style and skill as an artist.
My interest in the partial human forms both resting and in motion, focuses the eye on the elements. My use of tone and texture becomes a powerful tool in revealing the beauty of the unadorned figure.
